Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. The Ministry of Communication and Informatics committed to protect vulnerable groups from being taken advantage of by the advanced technology of deep fake that are famously used nowadays.
The commitment was reaffirmed ahead the 2024 General Elections as anticipation from the threat of disinformation. In its statement, the ministry targets the women, rural communities, disability community, elderly group, and children.
“The impact of disinformation could be huge from the potential of politic polarization, the declining of trust towards journalism,” says Nezar Patria, the Vice Minister of Communication and Informatics.
According to the data gathered from UNESCO and IPSOS in 2023, there are many who are feeling worried with the threat of disinformation during the elections.
As much as 80 percent of people who faced general elections, believe that disinformation affects their respective state politics.
On the other hand, the misuse of AI technology in presenting information is growing every year and could add oil to the fire.

Looking at the grim reality, the ministry reaffirmed its commitment to protect the vulnerable groups from disinformation that could possibly threats state security.
The prevention steps taken by the minister to protect the vulnerable groups will use inclusive approach by introducing the digital technology and what is the use of those technology.
