Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs asserted on Tuesday (21/4/2026)  that the safety and security of UN peacekeepers are non-negotiable following a series of violent incidents involving the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL). 

Ministry spokesperson Vahd Nabyl A. Mulachela said that Indonesia remains committed to UN Resolution 1701 but is actively coordinating with the UN and troop-contributing countries to strengthen personnel protection.

"Indonesia is committed to fulfilling the UNIFIL mandate... while continuously conducting periodic assessments of the situation on the ground," he said during a press briefing, as reported by antaranews.com

The Indonesian government has formally requested a comprehensive UN evaluation of safety protocols across all peacekeeping missions. To date, Indonesia has lost three personnel with eight others injured in three separate attacks in Lebanon. Recent hostilities also claimed the life of a French soldier on April 18, prompting Indonesia to urge the UN Security Council to take concrete steps to safeguard international troops.
