inp.polri.go.id - Makassar. Police have dismantled an international drug ring known as the "Malaysian Jokers" in Makassar, South Sulawesi. Seven people were arrested in the raid.

Police seized a large amount of evidence from this network, including approximately 9 kilograms of methamphetamine and 10,255 ecstasy pills.

The network was busted by the Makassar Sub-regional CityPolice Narcotics Unit and reported on Saturday (9/5/2026).

The Head of the Makassar Sub-regional Police Narcotics Unit, Superintendent Lulik Febyantara, explained that the seven arrested individuals, identified by their initials as EA, SI, SA, AD, DK, SB, and EW, are suspected of acting as liaisons between drug dealers in Malaysia and the network in Indonesia.

"They are accomplices of the Malaysian methamphetamine dealer, whom we are still identifying," said Lulik.

The nickname "Malaysian Jokers" arose because the network used methamphetamine and ecstasy pill packaging with a logo depicting the Joker's face.

This network apparently didn't only operate in Makassar.

Police discovered drug distribution to several major cities in Indonesia, namely Medan, Jakarta, Surabaya, and Makassar.

The seized evidence was the result of several arrests in several regions. In addition to Makassar, the arrests were also made in Pinrang, Surabaya, Pasuruan, and Depok.

This discovery marks a crucial step for the police in disrupting drug trafficking, which involves a network that spans regions and even connects with dealers from abroad.

Police are continuing their investigation to further uncover the network, including identifying the drug dealer, who is said to be based in Malaysia.
