Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono reaffirmed Indonesia’s proactive role in resolving global humanitarian crises during the 61st Session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva on Monday (23/2/2026).
Highlighting the plight of Palestinians, the urged an immediate cessation of violence and advocated for unhindered humanitarian access. He emphasized that a lasting peace must be built on the internationally recognized two-state solution.
"Indonesia maintains its support for the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people," Minister Sugiono said, as reported by antaranws.com.
Beyond the Middle East, he addressed the ongoing crisis in Myanmar, pledging Indonesia’s continued leadership within ASEAN to implement the Five-Point Consensus. Represented by Ambassador Sidharto R. Suryodipuro, Indonesia presided over the Council for the first time since its 2006 inception. Throughout the term ending in March, Indonesia aims to champion thematic issues including the rights of children, persons with disabilities, and the prevention of female genital mutilation.
