Inp.polri.go.id - Ambon. Maluku Regional Police Chief Inspector General Dadang Hartanto visited a hospital in Ambon on Monday (23/2/2026) to personally meet a victim of recent violence involving Mobile Brigade (Brimob) personnel.
The incident in Tual City resulted in the death of a student, while his brother, Nasrim Karim Tawakal, remains under intensive care.
"I am here to fulfill a moral responsibility, and on behalf of the Indonesian National Police, I offer my deepest apologies to the family for this tragedy," Chief Dadang said during his visit, as reported by antaranews.com
Accompanying medical staff and the victims' parents, the Chief said that the institution would not tolerate unlawful conduct by its members. The visit serves as a formal commitment to accountability as legal and internal investigations proceed.
While the victims' legal team observed the meeting, Chief Dadang assured that all medical expenses and judicial processes would be prioritized to ensure justice for the bereaved family following the fatal altercation.
