Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesia has regained access to the Australian market for steel reinforcing bars after Australia officially terminated its anti-dumping investigation into Indonesian rebar exports, the Ministry of Trade announced on Monday (5/1/2026).
“This decision restores Indonesia’s rebar export opportunities to Australia and strengthens the competitiveness of our steel products,” Trade Minister Budi Santoso said, as quoted by antaranews.com.
The Australian Anti-Dumping Commission ended the probe on December 16, 2025, after finding Indonesia’s dumping margin at 1.3 percent, below the 2 percent de minimis threshold. As a result, Indonesian hot rolled deformed steel reinforcing bar is exempt from anti-dumping duties.
The investigation, launched in September 2024, covered imports from Indonesia, Malaysia, and Vietnam. Indonesian authorities coordinated closely with exporters throughout the process to ensure compliance and cooperation.
Rebar exports to Australia had grown steadily since 2020 before declining in 2024 amid investigation-related uncertainty. The government expects the reopened market to support export recovery in 2026.
