Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) Traffic Corps has clarified that the newly introduced electronic Vehicle Ownership Book (e-BPKB) is currently limited to new four-wheeled vehicles.
“This is only for new four-wheeled vehicles. Used cars are not eligible and will not receive the electronic BPKB,” said Senior Superintendent Sumardji, the Traffic Corps Head of BPKB Subdirectorate on Tuesday (4/6/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
The cost of issuing an e-BPKB remains the same as the traditional printed version. Introduced in March 2025, the digital document aims to modernize vehicle registration in line with technological advancements.
With e-BPKB, owners can verify their vehicle documents via smartphone without visiting a Samsat office. The app, available on Google Play and App Store, allows users to view and validate BPKB data using NFC technology.
Equipped with an RFID chip, the e-BPKB securely stores dynamic data on vehicle ownership and simplifies the replacement process in cases of damage or loss.
