inp.polri.go.id - Labuan Bajo. Indonesia is the first country in Asia to host the 58th International Women Police Association Conference, which will be held on 6-11 November 2021 in Labuhan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
Indonesia's appointment is based on a mandate from the Board of Directors of the International Association of Women Police (IAWP) to the Indonesian National Police as the host of the 2020 IAWP conference.
This conference was held for the first time with the concept of "hybrid", participants can attend activities through "online platforms" or "offline".
Six hundred ninety-one participants will attend, consisting of 245 "offline" participants and 446 "online" participants from 38 countries, Asia, Australia, Europe, America, Africa and the Middle East.
The conference was also attended by eight security organizations, Interpol, Aseanapol, GCCpol, UNODC, ICRC, UN Women, UNDPO, and JCLEC.
The 58th International Association of Women Police will be officially opened by the Chief of Indonesian National Police, Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, on Monday (08/11/2021).
At the same time, a review of mass vaccination activities in West Manggarai City and the Commander of Indonesian National Armed Forces, Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto.
This moment is an honour for Indonesia, as it is considered the first host country in Asia since the association was founded in 1915.
Labuan Bajo was chosen as the conference venue to support the 10 New Bali Program, where Labuan Bajo is a super-priority tourist destination (DWSP) for Labuan Bajo.
Following the tradition of the IAWP Conference, there are several programs that participants can attend during the conference that are adjusted to the event venue in Labuan Bajo, such as the "Parade of Nations" Main Street of Labuan Bajo City on November 6, 2021.
Then, the opening ceremony at the Meruorah Hotel Ballroom. "Heritage and Annual Award Recognition" 2020/2021, and the Closing event/ Gala Dinner at the Ayana Hotel. There is also a Komodo National Park tour program to Pink Beach, Padar Island and Komodo Island.
Furthermore, the most important program of this conference is the "Training Sessions" where there are six key speakers, namely the Minister of Home Affairs, Police General (Ret.) Muhammad Tito Karnavian, the speaker from the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations (Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations) and four women speakers such as Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Lestari Priansari Marsudi, Minister Deputy of Tourism and Creative Economy Angela Herliani Tanoesoedibjo, and Chief Deputy of Central Kalimantan, Police Brigadier General Ida Oetari Poernamasasi.
In addition, 65 speakers will share their expertise, knowledge, experience and best practices to improve and enlighten.
The theme raised at this year's IAWP conference was "Women at The Center Stage of Policing" with five sub-themes, namely "Women, Peace and Security", "Women and Leadership", "Police Women and Their Challenges", "The Role of Women in Policing", "Science, Technology and Policing", and "Current Issues on Transnational Crimes".
The Indonesian participants consisted of representatives from each regional police and unit at the Indonesian National Police Headquarters. These representatives also come from various levels of rank and field of work. They are expected to become future leaders and lead organizations with satisfactory knowledge, experience and expertise and have a more comprehensive network with other law enforcement officers worldwide.
