Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources is preparing a verification system for buyers of subsidized 3-kilogram liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), set to take effect in 2026 to ensure that the subsidy reaches low-income households, micro enterprises, farmers, and fishermen.

“We will build a system. The system already exists, but we want to make it faster so people do not need to repeatedly submit copies of their ID cards,” said Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Yuliot Tanjung on Wednesday (27/8/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.

The current practice of collecting photocopied IDs has hindered accurate tracking of beneficiaries, raising concerns over subsidy misuse. The new mechanism will align recipient data with their official domicile, providing more precise targeting.

Energy Minister Bahlil Lahadalia previously announced a policy shift toward a single LPG price while transforming the subsidy scheme into a beneficiary-based model, supported by regulatory revisions.
