Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (IP) reiterated that the Indonesia will not serve as a safe haven for international fugitives, underscoring its active role in extradition and cross-border law enforcement.
“Police will not remain idle and will continue to hunt down criminals, both foreign nationals and Indonesians, across the country,” said Brigadier General Amur Chandra Juli Buana, the Head of the INP International Relations Division, during a House of Representatives (DPR) hearing on Monday (22/9/2025), as reported by antaranews.com.
From 2024 to 2025, the INP through Interpol’s National Central Bureau processed the extradition of six Indonesian fugitives and handed over 18 foreign subjects to partner countries. Indonesia also participates in forums such as Interpol, ASEANAPOL, and the ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Transnational Crime, and will host the Melanesian Spearhead Group police ministers’ meeting in October.
Chief Amur acknowledged differences in legal systems remain obstacles but stressed Indonesia’s commitment to strengthening cooperation against transnational crime.
