Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesian Ambassador to the Philippines, Lieutenant General (ret) Agus Widjojo, passed away at the age of 78 on Sunday evening at RSPAD Gatot Subroto hospital in Central Jakarta at 8.15 pm, following a distinguished career spanning decades in public service.
"The extended family of the Indonesian Embassy in Manila prays that the deceased's deeds be accepted and that the bereaved family be granted fortitude and patience," the Embassy said in an official announcement on Monday (9/2/2026), as quoted by antaranews.com.
Ambassador Widjojo, the son of National Hero Major General Sutoyo Siswomiharjo, was a pivotal figure in Indonesia’s military and political reform.
Before his 2022 appointment as Ambassador to Manila, Marshall Islands, and Palau, he served as the Governor of the National Resilience Institute (Lemhannas) from 2016 to 2022. A 1970 AKABRI graduate, he also held the position of Deputy Speaker of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) between 2001 and 2003.
