Inp.polri.go.id - Yogyakarta. The Indonesian Army  will focus on modernizing its defense equipment in 2025 to strengthen its combat capabilities. involving both upgrading existing systems and acquiring new assets that meet current operational needs.

"We aim for a combination of modernizing existing weapons systems and purchasing new ones that align with the latest operational requirements," said Brigadier General Wahyu Yudhayana, the Head of the Army Information Service, on Tuesday (31/12/2024), as reported by antaranews.com.

Commander Wahyu emphasized that modernization is necessary to counter increasingly sophisticated military technology from other countries, ensuring a more effective defense and attack capability. However, he reassured that the current Army weapon systems are still adequate for safeguarding Indonesia's territorial integrity.

The commander also highlighted the importance of collaborating with domestic defense industries to foster independence in the defense sector, in line with the government’s policy. 

However, he did not provide specific details about which equipment would be purchased or the allocated budget for the modernization program.
