Indonesian National Police: 18 Witnesses Investigated during Sting Operation in Nganjuk

Chief of Police Public Affairs and Press Directorate (Kadivhumas) Indonesian National Police, Police Inspector General Raden Prabowo Argo Yuwono, said that 18 witnesses have been investigated in connection with sting operation (OTT) of Nganjuk Regent Novi Rahman Hidayat’s allegation case of abuse of position. “From the arrestment, we have investigated several witnesses. There are 18 witnesses investigated,” as mentioned by Kadivhumas in a press conference at the Criminal and Investigation Agency (Bareskrim), Jakarta, Tuesday (11/5) After the investigation of the 18 witnesses, an investigator from the Directorate of Corruption Crime (Dirtipikor) Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) of Indonesian National Police and an investigator from Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) confiscated IDR 647,900,000 of the Nganjuk Regent’s deposit box as the evidence. Investigators also confiscated eight mobile phones and Bank Jatim passbook on behalf of Tri Basuki Widodo. “There are several documents related to the case,” as mentioned by Kadivhumas. Kadivhumas also mentioned, after the 18 witnesses were investigated, there would be an investigation for the suspect. Investigator also reconstructed the case, and of the reconstruction, the case will be investigated. “The parties involved in the reconstruction agreed that the case will be investigated, so the suspect will be brought to Jakarta,” Kadivhumas mentioned. The case of Nganjuk Regent will be continued by Bareskrim Polri. There are seven suspects, including Nganjuk Regent. The suspects are Nganjuk Regent Novi Rahman Hidayat (NRH) and M Izza Muhtadin (MIM) as the regent’s adjutant. Meanwhile the bribe giver, Dupriono (DR) as Head of Subdisctrict Pace, Edi Srijato (ES) as Head of Subdisctrict Tanjunganom and Head of Subdisctrict (Acting) Sukomoro, Haryanto (HR) as Head of Subdisctrict Berbek, Bambang Subagio (BS) as Head of Subdisctrict Loceret, and Tri Basuki Widodo (TBW) as Head of Subdisctrict Sukomoro. They were subject to article 5 paragraph 1 of the Corruption Law Number 31 Year 1999 as amended by Number 20 the Year 2001, with a maximum threat of five years in prison and a fine of IDR 250 million. Meanwhile, the Nganjuk recent and his adjutant are subject to Article 5 paragraph 2 and/or Article 11 and/or Article 12b of the Corruption Act. All suspects are also charged concerning Article 55, paragraph 1 to 1 of the Criminal Code. The suspect will be detained in Bareskrim Polri detention centre in Jakarta. The efforts made by the Police Criminal Investigation Dirtipikor are the result of coordination with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to eradicate corruption.
