Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police has mobilized hundreds of officers to secure the 2026 Lunar New Year celebrations scheduled for Tuesday.

Authorities are deploying 155 officers to conduct both open and undercover security operations. This deployment focuses on safeguarding houses of worship and major event hubs across the capital.

“Metro Jaya Police is deploying 155 officers to conduct patrols in high-risk areas and ensure traffic flow toward temples and festive venues,” said Senior Superintendent Budi Hermanto, the Metro Jaya Head of Public Relations, on Monday (16/2/2026), as quoted by antaranews.com.

The security measures coincide with the inaugural national "Lunar New Year Festival" held at Lapangan Banteng, featuring a lantern festival and cultural parades. Officers will conduct site sterilizations before services begin and coordinate closely with religious leaders to maintain public order.

Beyond Jakarta, a nationwide "Harmony of the Archipelago" initiative is active in cities like Singkawang and Medan, where local units are also on high alert to ensure inclusive and peaceful celebrations.
