Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesian public activist Wanda Hamidah said she was prepared to face arrest and imprisonment by Israeli forces during her participation in the Global Sumud Flotilla humanitarian mission aimed at breaking the Gaza blockade.
“We have dedicated our lives to this cause. Even if we are captured, deported, or imprisoned in Israel, we are ready,” she told reporters in Jakarta on Saturday evening (4/10/2025) after returning from the mission with fellow volunteer Muhammad Fatur Rohman of the Aqsa Working Group (AWG), as quoted by antaranews.com.
The two were among dozens of Indonesians who joined international efforts to deliver aid to Gaza. Their ships, including Kaiser, Observer, and Nusantara, were forced to dock in Italy after sustaining damage, leaving them unable to continue the journey.
Despite setbacks, Wanda considered that the mission succeeded in raising awareness about Gaza’s plight.
“Our struggle is to awaken global and Indonesian consciousness to free Palestine from occupation,” she said.
