Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) and the Ministry of Forestry have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to regulate business activities within forest areas, aiming to protect Indonesia’s forests from illegal exploitation.
“This agreement focuses on curbing illegal businesses in forest zones,” Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni said during a press conference in Jakarta on Monday (4/11/2024).
He emphasized that law enforcement is key to protecting forests and pledged to end all forms of illegal encroachment—whether personal, communal, or corporate.
Both institutions will share data and coordinate on illegal forestry operations. Minister Raja Juli also highlighted the need for greater resources in forest policing, with support from the INP.
INP Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo affirmed that Polri is committed to supporting the ministry’s programs through resource training, intelligence sharing, and joint monitoring.
"The National Police fully supports the Ministry of Forestry's programs and the President's directives," he said, adding that forest and land fire cases will be mapped and presented to President Prabowo Subianto.
