Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has guaranteed that the prices of rice and essential food items during the fasting month of Ramadan will comply with the government’s highest retail price (HET) regulations.
Following a coordination meeting with Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan on Wednesday (26/2/2025), he said that officers would be deployed to monitor rice absorption in line with government directives.
“Our officers will be on the ground to ensure rice absorption follows the government’s decisions,” Chief Sigit said, as quoted by antaranews.com.
Police will also oversee market sales to prevent retailers from charging above HET.
“If we detect prices exceeding HET, we will investigate and take corrective action,” he added.
Chief Sigit also pledged to secure sufficient rice and staple supplies during Ramadan, ensuring availability exceeds demand.
“We will take firm action against speculators attempting to manipulate prices during Ramadan,” he warned.
