inp.polri.go.id - Bali. The Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo emphasized the importance of Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for rescuing passengers on ships. This was conveyed when General Sigit and entourage reviewed Merak Port preparation in the anticipation of disturbances during the 2024 Christmas and New Year holidays.
General Sigit also asked about the ticket system if the ship's departure schedule is hampered by weather.
"We are also asking about the ticketing regulation system, whether they can be used or not if a ship's departure is hampered by weather as this is important for the public to know. The information also helps us to prepare for the potential traffic jams due to the long queues that might occur in that situation," said the Chief of Police.
Regarding the ferry crossing, General Sigit emphasized Banten Regional Police to coordinate with Merak Port. The Banten Police and other stakeholders are expected to work together with the media in conveying information about the weather at Merak Port. That way, the public will be well-informed.
Banten Regional Police Chief Inspector General Suyudi Ario Seto then explained that his party had coordinated with ASDP Indonesia Ferry regarding the passenger tickets. He ensured that tickets would remain valid if the schedule was constrained during the end-of-year holidays.
On the other hand, Suyudi also ensured that SOPs related to passenger rescue have been prepared. He has even held meetings and shared tasks with other parties.
“Our provincial disaster mitigation task force has already held coordination meetings, and we have divided the tasks according to each of their respective duties. In principle, we are very ready to provide services to the community if there are weather disturbances or disasters that occur," said Suyudi.
