Inp.polri.go.id - Yogyakarta. Indonesian National Police Chief (INP) General Listyo Sigit Prabowo launched on Thursday (7/3/2024) the "Pasar Kangen Wiwitan Pasa 2024" event at the Yogyakarta Regional Police Headquarters Field to mark the beginning of Ramadan 2024.
Accompanied by Yogyakarta Governor Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X, he officially commenced the the market tradition initiated by the Yogyakarta Police by sounding the traditional "otok-otok" instrument, antaranews.com reported.
"We've organized this event to restore harmony among all of us, especially the people of Yogyakarta," said Yogyakarta Police Chief Inspector General Suwondo Nainggolan in his address.
He elaborated that the "wiwitan pasa" event, featuring a nostalgic market, painting exhibitions, and art performances, reflected the Yogyakarta Police's commitment to welcoming Ramadan.
Chief Suwondo emphasized that the event, now in its second edition at the DIY Regional Police Headquarters, epitomizes collaboration between the police and artists and cultural figures to enhance interaction with the community.
"Our aim is to transform the police office into a welcoming gathering place for the community," he remarked.
He said that this year's "wiwitan pasa" nostalgic market features 160 micro, small and medium enterprises booths from Yogyakarta and was enlivened by art performances by local students and street artists.
Senior Superintendent Nugroho Arianto, the Head of Public Relations at the Yogyakarta Police, emphasized that the Pasar Kangen Wiwitan Pasa 2024 event is open to the public free of charge for three days from 7 to 9 March 2024.
