INP Chief Urges Caution in Extortion Case Involving Former Minister Limpo

Chief of the Indonesian National Police  (INP) General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has emphasized the need for a meticulous investigation into the alleged extortion case involving former Agriculture Minister Syahrul Yasin Limpo by officials from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). The case has been under the investigation of the Jakarta Metro Regional Police
"Given the public figure involved and the public institution in question, we must handle this case with utmost care and caution", he was quoted by antaranews.com as saying on his visit to  Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta Stadium on Saturday (7/10/2023). The INP headquarters has deployed a special team to assist the Jakarta Metro Regional Police in investigating the case. "I've requested an INP team to ensure a meticulous process.  I urge investigators to be professional," General Sigit asserted, welcoming external oversight of the INP's investigation of the case to ensure transparency and justice. Director of Special Criminal Investigation at the Jakarta Metro Regional Police Senior Superintendent Ade Safri Simanjuntak disclosed that his office received the extortion case on August 12, 2023. KPK searched for former minister Limpo's official residence in Jakarta and the private residence in Makassar  in relation to the corruption case at the Ministry of Agriculture while he was on his official visit to Spain and Italy last month.
