inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo welcomes the visit of Minister of Immigration and Corrections (Imipas), Agus Andrianto, and his staff to discuss security in prisons that still needs to be improved.

In his visit, Agus noted that security in prisons are still often marred by illegal drug trafficking, requiring the role of the Police.

"The raids that we carry out require support from the ranks of the police as we only have a handful of personnel," said Minister Agus in a meeting on Friday (2/14/2025).

According to Agus, this collaboration must be carried out to further ensure the success of the task by orienting it towards the President's Asta Cita, especially in eradicating drug trafficking within the prison environment.

Currently, data shows that there are 313 prisoners who have been transferred to the Nusa Kambangan Maximum Security Prison as they are suspected of controlling drug trafficking from within the prison.

"We also organize food security activities, Nusakambangan can later become a model for coaching and training for inmates. We also create integrated fisheries, agriculture and livestock programs. Furthermore, shrimp farming will be developed," he explained.

Furthermore, the Minister of Imipas explained that a circular letter to all prisons regarding cooperative actions with law enforcement officers who are developing criminal investigations, especially narcotics, has been issued. Minister Agus admitted that the ranks have been ordered not to be apathetic and must build relationships with the Regional Coordination Leadership Forum.

General Sigit welcomed the cooperation and collaboration with the ministry and stated that the Police are ready to help eradicate drugs even in prisons. Moreover, it cannot be denied that Indonesia can be said to be in a drug emergency situation.

"Regarding the prison raids, we are ready to provide 24/7 support. We will also conduct an evaluation in the next 3 months regarding the transfer of prisoners to Nusakambangan and hopefully the distribution graph can decrease," said General Sigit.
