Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. In the aftermath of their deployment on the Damai Cartenz Operation in Papua, the Indonesian National Police (INP)'s Human Resources Development Agency  has initiated a psychological rehabilitation program for the personnel of the Mobile Brigade Corps  to address the emotional toll of their mission. The objective of this initiative is to assist officers in managing any lingering negative emotions stemming from their duties and to restore their mental well-being. Assistant of Human Resources Development of the INP Chief, Inspector General Prof. Dr. Dedi Prasetyo, highlighted the challenges and risks inherent in police operations. Particularly, officers tasked with law enforcement and maintaining public order in Papua during the Damai Cartenz Operation face heightened risks. "In acknowledgment of the significant risks involved in police operations, the SSDM Polri's Psychological Bureau is providing SUPPORT-Psi  to facilitate the psychological recovery of personnel following their assignments," he said on Friday (23/2/2024). SUPPOR-Psi stands for Touch, Attention Giving, Emotional Processing, and Psychological Therapy. General Dedi explained that the psychological rehabilitation activities was carried out by officers from the INP Human Resource's Psychological Bureau, INP Mobile Brigade Brimob Polri, as well as psychology graduates from the Traffic Education Center ), the Water and Air Police Education Center, and the INP's Human Resource in late January. "The rehabilitation involved techniques such as emotional agility, relaxation exercises, and interactive games aimed at facilitating the release of negative emotions," he explained. Moreover, General Dedi emphasized the importance of personnel being able to identify their current emotional state and determine appropriate coping mechanisms. "By participating in these activities, personnel can effectively alleviate their negative emotions and strive towards a more meaningful state of being," he said. (mg/ri/pr/nm)
