Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Religious Affairs is scheduled to hold the confirmation (Isbat) meeting to determine the start of 1 Shawwal 1447 Hijriah, or Eid al-Fitr, on March 19, 2026.
The high-level session will take place at the H.M. Rasjidi Auditorium in Jakarta, coinciding with the 29th day of Ramadan. Officials confirmed that the determination will rely on a combination of astronomical calculations, known as hisab, and field observations, known as rukyat, conducted across various points in Indonesia.
"The session is based on verified astronomical data and observation results, conducted through a mechanism that remains transparent to the public," said Abu Rokhmad, Director General of Islamic Community Guidance, on Sunday (1.3/2026).
The meeting will involve experts from the Meteorology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), and various Islamic organizations to ensure religious legitimacy.
Following the closed-door discussions and the verification of moon sightings, the Minister of Religious Affairs will officially announce the national date for the Eid celebration.
