Inp.polri.go.id - Timika. Mimika Regent Johannes Rettob revealed that dozens of civil servants within the Mimika administration resigned from their positions due to inability to meet promotion requirements under the current personnel system.
Approximately 30 civil servants serving as village heads and section chiefs stepped down voluntarily after failing to secure career advancements. Regent Rettob said that career progression is strictly dictated by the established system, which requires specific rank-to-position ratios that were not met by the resigning officials.
"Since a long time ago, I requested they resign; these civil servants need career progression. Whether we want to be officials or have good careers, procedures must be followed," he said on Sunday (1/3/2026).
The Regent noted that many officials currently in Echelon III roles will be downgraded to Echelon IV not as a demotion, but to correct abnormal career paths where civil servants bypassed proper procedures.
