Chief of the Indonesian National Police (INP) General Listyo Sigit Prabowo announced on Tuesday (2/21/23) that the Chief of Jambi Regional Police, Inspector General Rusdi Hartono, the crews and other passengers of the helicopter that crashed on Bukit Tamiai in Kerinci, Jambi have been evacuated and underwent medical examination and treatments at Bhayangkara Hospital in Jambi.
"Alhamdulillah, we have done the evacuation. We will examine those who are being treated and the team of doctors will take step whether further treatment is needed," he said at the Jambi Bhayangkara Hospital.
The general said that the Bhayangkara Hospital has been administering medical examinations and treatments for the helicopter crash victims. The INP will bring them to Jakarta for more advance medical treatment, if necessary.
Regarding the Chief of Jambi Regional Police conditions and other victims, He said that all of the crews and passengers of the ill-fated helicopter, including the Chief of Jambi Regional Police, were conscious although they suffered from injuries and broke their bones in their legs, arms, ribs, and other body parts.
"A team of doctors is conducting a scan at the moment. The Head of Police Health and Medical Center will decide whether they need to be brought to Jakarta or not," he said.
The Chief of the INP said that a total of six people were being treated at the Jambi Bhayangkara Hospital including the Chief of Jambi Regional Police.
He added that at present the INP priority was to save the victims and will evacuate the remains of the chopper and administer the examination to find the cause of the crash.
The helicopter had been under regular periodic checks, including before its last departure, he said. The general expressed his appreciation and gratitude to all parties involved in the evacuation process.
