Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) has reaffirmed its commitment to guaranteeing the constitutional rights of workers to express their aspirations during the International Workers' Day (May Day) commemorations on Friday (1/5/2026).
INP Head of the Public Relations Division Inspector General Johnny Eddizon Isir said that freedom of expression is a constitutionally protected right that must be respected.
"The INP guarantees the constitutional rights of workers to convey their opinions in a safe, orderly, and dignified manner. We understand that conveying aspirations is a part of human rights that must be protected," he said in Jakarta, as cited by antaranews.com.
In securing the May Day rallies, Chief Isir noted that police personnel are prioritizing a humanist and persuasive approach. He clarified that the police presence is not intended to restrict democratic space but to ensure a conducive environment for all participants.
The INP is also coordinating traffic management and securing mass gathering points to minimize disruption to public activities while urging protesters to maintain order and protect public facilities.
