inp.polri.go.id - Malang. The Director of Protection of Women and Children (PPA) and Prevention and Prosecution of Human Trafficking (PPO) of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Indonesian National Police (INP), Brigadier General Nurul Azizah explained the prevention strategy against gender-based violence against women and children.
Nurul said that the family is an important pillar in anticipating the occurrence of such cases.
"The role of parents in the family must provide guidance and education as early as possible to their children," said Nurul in Batu City, East Java, Thursday (5/15/2025).
Guidance and education can serve as a way of introducing children to sexual education, namely starting from body parts introduction, boundaries, and how to protect themselves.
This knowledge aims to form a basic understanding, so that it can create protection for a child.
Then, this step is strengthened by providing material on reproductive organs through subjects in each school.
Nurul stated that her party has routinely coordinated with related agencies so that educational material on reproductive organs can be provided to students.
"Of course, we always coordinate with many parties to include the topic to the curriculum. It is no longer taboo, but it must be known as early as possible to avoid sexual abuse," she said.
Then, regarding the crime of human trafficking (TPPO), Nurul said the role of parents is also important to guide their children, one of which is so that they are not easily influenced by the lure of large salaries from employers.
If their child wants to work abroad, then parents should monitor the workforce recruitment process as much as possible.
"Working abroad is allowed but must go through official channels and coordinate with the relevant agencies," she said.
On the other hand, Batu Sub-regional Police Chief, Superintendent Andhi Yudha Pranata said that the community is actively involved in efforts to handle and anticipate incidents of gender-based violence against women and children.
"Batu Police are committed to not using restorative justice in handling cases of violence against women and children," he said.
