Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  In preparation for the 2024 Regional Head Elections, the Assistant Chief of the Indonesian National Police (INP) for Human Resources, Inspector Generall Dedi Prasetyo, announced on Monday (30/9/2024) that all security personnel must undergo health checks. 

“Only those who pass these examinations will be authorized to participate in election security,” he said, as quoted by antaranews.com.

These health assessments aim to prevent illness and fatalities among police officers during the elections. Alongside health checks, they will also undergo physical and psychological evaluations to ensure they are fit for duty. 

“Our goal is to have fully healthy personnel in order to avoid any incidents, as seen in past elections,” Chief Dedi emphasized.

Reflecting on experiences from previous presidential and legislative elections, he noted the enthusiasm of police officers despite challenging conditions. 

Chief Dedi also said about the potential involvement of the Police Academy students in securing police stations during election activities if needed. He confirmed that police have calculated the numbers of officers required for effective security during the 2024 regional elections.
