Police have arrested another eight foreigners of Bangladesh in Belu Regency just in a span of a week. “They were arrested on Sunday (12/10/2023) in Fatubesi, East Tasifeto Regency at Kornelis Paebesi’s house,” says Belu Sub-regional Police Chief, Superintendent Nataldo Devallas Simanjuntak on Monday (12/11/2023). Nataldo states that after suspect examination, police revealed that the eight foreigners were in Belu for less than a week. The illegal immigrants reportedly could not speak Indonesian and has Indonesian ID card with fake address. The fake address listed in their ID card are spanning across NTT such as, Sikka Regency, Belu Regency, and Kupang City. Their presence is also said to be unknown by local neighbor head although they have stayed for almost a week. According to initial investigation, they came from Bangladesh to Malaysia and continued their voyage to Medan, North Sumatra before finally arrived at Belu Regency, NTT. After examining the illegal immigrants, police then handed them over to Atambua Immigration office to be processed further. (ad/my/pr/nm)
