Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. A senior researcher at the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), Muhammad Reza Cordova, has urged Jakarta residents not to be overly worried about microplastic contamination in rainwater, as long as they maintain a healthy lifestyle.
BRIN’s ongoing research since 2018 found traces of microplastics in Jakarta’s rainwater, highlighting the spread of plastic pollution into the atmosphere.
“Healthy habits, according to various studies, help the body eliminate pollutants faster,” Reza said during a media briefing at Jakarta City Hall on Friday (24/10/2025), as reported by antaranews.com.
He emphasized regular consumption of fruits and vegetables to aid in removing harmful substances from the body.
Jakarta Health Office official Rahmat Aji Pramono echoed the statement, advising residents to focus on preventive measures, such as monitoring air quality through the Jakarta Kini (JAKI) app and wearing masks during dry seasons when pollution levels are high.
He also recommended frequent indoor dust cleaning to reduce microplastic exposure.
