Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Health experts have urged the Jakarta administration to anticipate potential superflu cases by strengthening primary healthcare services, surveillance, and public awareness, amid reports of Influenza A , also known as superflu or H3N2, circulation in Indonesia.
“Health services must always be reinforced, starting from community-level primary care, alongside clinical and genomic surveillance,” said Prof. Tjandra Yoga Aditama, the Chairman of the Honorary Council of the Indonesian Society of Pulmonology, on Saturday (3/1/2026)m, as reported by antaranews.com.
He said authorities should intensify public health education on clean and healthy living, encourage mask use for symptomatic individuals, and promote early medical consultation if symptoms worsen or cluster in households, offices, or schools. Transparent public communication on case developments is also needed.
The call follows the detection of 62 H3N2 cases nationwide.
The Ministry of Health has confirmed that superflu is not deadly like COVID-19 and behaves like seasonal influenza, with milder impacts in tropical countries. Nonetheless, officials advise maintaining immunity through adequate rest and regular exercise as preventive measures.
