Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesia has officially achieved rice self-sufficiency, with national rice stocks at the start of 2026 reaching 12.529 million tons, marking a sharp increase driven entirely by domestic production, the National Food Agency (Bapanas) announced on Saturday (3/12/2026).

“The government is confident that rice availability is very strong. Indonesia has achieved rice self-sufficiency,” said Bapanas Deputy for Food Availability and Stabilization I Gusti Ketut Astawa, as cited by antaranews.com.

Bapanas data show the early-2026 stock represents a 203 percent increase compared with early 2024 levels and includes 3.248 million tons of government rice reserves managed by state logistics agency Bulog. The stockpile is spread across households, mills, traders, and the hospitality sector, with no rice imports recorded in 2025.

The government has decided not to import rice for consumption or industry in 2026, continuing last year’s policy to protect farmers.

Agriculture Minister and Bapanas Head Andi Amran Sulaiman said supplies are sufficient through Ramadan and Eid 2026, ensuring price stability and food security nationwide.
