Inp.polri.go.id – Jambi. The Drugs Investigation Directorate of Jambi Regional Police have uncovered the international drug ring from Februari 2024. The uncovering has been estimated to rescue around 45,000 people from the dangers of the illicit item. “Jambi Regional Police committed and worked hard in eradicating drugs. The impact of this crime is very bad for our people, particularly for our younger generations,” said the Drugs Investigation Director of Jambi Regional Police Superintendent Ernesto Seiser on Saturday (3/9/2024). In uncovering the case, Ernesto appreciates the public for reporting the case to the police throughout February. Thanks to that, police have been able to arrest dozens of suspects including the user, couriers, and the drug dealers. Furthermore, Ernesto reveals that his party has confiscated several pieces of evidence from the arrest, including methamphetamine with a total weight of 9.6 kg, 520 pills containing methamphetamine, and 326 ecstasy pills. The total worth of the evidence is estimated to reach up to IDR 11.7 billion. Additionally, Ernesto also explains that suspects arrested by the police have their own roles, from user to dealers. They are arrested in several locations, including a rented house used for drug storage. In his official statement, Ernesto admits that he found the new method in smuggling the drugs which is by modifying the methamphetamine into tablets pills. “Initially we thought that it was ecstasy. However, the lab result showed that the alleged ecstasy pills turned out to be methamphetamine,” said Ernesto. There are many methods used by drug criminals to smuggle their illicit items.
