Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. A joint military and police team has recovered the body of Indra Guru Wardana, who was killed by an armed criminal group (KKB) in Ulakin Village, Kolf Braza District, Asmat Regency, South Papua.
Asmat Sub-regional Police Chief Superintendent Wahyu Basuki said Friday (26/9/2025) that the search was launched after investigators failed to locate the victim’s remains during the crime scene examination on Thursday.
The assailants, six men armed with long-barreled rifles, had shot Indra on Monday before setting his house ablaze.
The victim’s body was eventually found floating in a nearby river, tied around the waist and chest to a small boat engine, allegedly to hinder search efforts.
Police evacuated his body to Suator Health Center for examination before handing it over to the family for burial.
