inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. President Joko Widodo stressed the importance of digital transformation in the economic sector, particularly in finance, amidst the rapid advances in technology.
President Widodo says that amidst the slow and uncertainty of world economics, all instruments must be used to improve the economy.
“Digital transformation, particularly in the finance sector, is very important, furthermore amidst the rapid advances in technology,” said Jokowi on Thursday (8/1/2024).
He says that Indonesian digital economy potential could grow four times higher in 2030, reaching 210-360 USD, or IDR 5,800 trillion.
Moreover, Jokowi also predicts that digital payments will grow 2.5 times higher by 2030 to reach 760 billion US dollars or the equivalent of IDR 12,300 trillion.
“This is a huge number, while we are supported with a demographic bonus in 2030 where 68% of our populations are in productive age, which includes gen Y, Z, and Alpha,” explains Jokowi.
The increasing use of phones, supported by demographic bonus will obviously affect the digital economy.
He notes that the number of active phone users in Indonesia is 354 millions, bigger than the number of the population.
Therefore, Jokowi asked OJK and Indonesian Bank to improve the digital economy security and boost finance literacy in the public.
