inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) commended the Indonesian National Police (INP) for successfully uncovering a child trafficking case that resulted in the rescue of four child victims.
KPAI Chairwoman Margaret Aliyatul Maimunah assessed that the police's swift and professional actions in uncovering the human trafficking case demonstrate the state's commitment to protecting children from serious crimes that threaten their safety and future.
She emphasized that the successful rescue of the children demonstrates that law enforcement is not solely focused on prosecuting perpetrators, but also prioritizes victim protection.
According to her, the responsive presence of police is crucial to the safety of child victims of human trafficking. She also emphasized that handling child human trafficking cases must be comprehensive.
"In addition to legal proceedings against the perpetrators, victims have the right to comprehensive protection, including physical, psychological, and social recovery, as well as guarantees of safe and adequate care after the incident," she explained on Friday (2/6/2026).
She further stated that KPAI will oversee the custody assessment process for the child victims. This step is considered crucial considering that the perpetrators come from within the family.
"Therefore, it is crucial to ensure that the children are placed in a safe environment that supports their growth and development," he said.
Meanwhile, the Jakarta Provincial Technical Implementation Unit for the Protection of Women and Children (UPT PPAPP DKI Jakarta) affirmed its commitment to continuing to collaborate with INP in handling child trafficking cases. Assistance and recovery services for victims are provided by prioritizing the victim's perspective and through cross-agency coordination.
