Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  Minister of Defense Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin has called for the Indonesian Special Forces Command (Kopassus) to enhance their humanitarian or "soft power" capabilities as a vital complement to their military operations.

“We cannot focus solely on hard power operations. Soft power, including humanitarian elements, is equally important,” he said during his visit to the Kopassus Training and Education Center in Batujajar, Bandung, on Sunday (12/1/2025).

The visit, accompanied by TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto, was part of plans to develop urban combat training facilities. These facilities aim to support training for all TNI branches, incorporating humanitarian aspects to create a well-rounded approach to military preparedness.

Minister Sjafrie also stressed the need for advanced training infrastructure to address the complexities of modern warfare.

“We must build facilities that prepare us for a wide range of operational scenarios, not just urban combat,” he added, as quoted by antaranews.com.
