KPAI Held Journalism Training for Child-Friendly Content

inp.polri.go.id - In enhancing the human resources and the quality of services in public relations and child-friendly journalism, the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) held a Journalism Training at the Redtop Hotel & Convention Center, Pecenongan, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (12/7). Other than being attended by several representatives from the internal organizational structure of KPAI, the training was also attended by representatives from five Public Relations Institutions, including KPAI Public Relations, the Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (KemenPPPA) Public Relations, Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) Public Relations, National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) Public Relations, and the National Police (Polri) Public Relations. In her remarks, the Head of the KPAI Secretariat, Elita Gafar hoped that, after the training, there would be a synergy between public relations institutions in providing information and education to the public regarding child-friendly news. "Together we want an improvement for the child protection in Indonesia. Synergistic collaboration between KPAI, KemenPPPA, Polri, LPSK, and Komnas HAM public relations to move faster in realizing various existing child protection programs. I believe, with our current potential, accompanied by good performance with integrity and professionalism, we are able to bring about positive changes in the child protection in Indonesia," said the Head of the KPAI Secretariat. In her remarks, the Head of the KPAI Secretariat said that journalistic skills are very important in informing the policies to community and counter negative news. “Journalism is a part of mass communication that relates to the wider community. Journalism skills are now important and strategic so that they can be used to publish, inform the government policies and counter negative news. Journalism skills require HR professionalism, skills and accuracy in presentation, and are able to articulate reality into written form so that the information could be well received, "explained Elita Gafar. In the training, the event invited the speakers who are qualified and experienced in news writing techniques, such as Dr. Sri Mustika, Lecturer of UHAMKA Communication Studies Study Program, and Sonya Hellen, Journalist for Kompas TV.
