Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. State-owned PT Krakatau Steel (Persero) Tbk is allocating over 500 hectares of industrial land in Cilegon, Banten, to support strategic investments in the steel sector, particularly for Chinese giant Delong Steel Group and its Indonesian subsidiary, PT Dexin Steel Indonesia.
“This is not just about building a plant, it’s about creating a globally competitive national steel ecosystem to support Indonesia’s strategic infrastructure projects,” said Krakatau Steel President Director Akbar Djohan on Monday (9/6/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com
The move followed a May 2025 visit by Krakatau Steel’s delegation to Delong Steel in China, where both companies signed an MoU on raw material procurement and future collaboration. A reciprocal visit by Delong Steel on 3 June 2025 included a site review in Cilegon.
The partnership aims to develop an integrated steel plant with a production capacity of 3 million tons per year. It is expected to create thousands of jobs and contribute significantly to the national economy through technology transfer, local value creation, and potential green steel production.
The project will be facilitated by Krakatau Steel’s subsidiary, PT Krakatau Sarana Infrastruktur (KSI).
