Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Manpower Yassierli assured on Wednesday (17/12/2025) that minimum wages will not decrease, even in regions experiencing negative economic growth, as wage adjustments will continue to factor in inflation. He delivered the statement in Jakarta amid public concerns over regional economic disparities.

“There is no concept of lowering minimum wages. If economic growth is negative, wage councils will still calculate increases based on inflation,” he said, as reported by antaranews.com

Minister Yassierli explained that the wage adjustment formula combines inflation with economic growth multiplied by an alpha factor ranging from 0.5 to 0.9, ensuring continued wage increases nationwide.

The assurance follows data from the Bureau of Statistics Indonesia (BPS) showing negative growth in West Papua and Central Papua in the third quarter of 2025. Minister Yassierli added that regional wage councils are equipped with sectoral data to assess fair adjustments. He also confirmed that governors are required to finalize provincial and regency minimum wages by 24 December 2025, under newly signed government regulations.
