Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Manpower Yassierli confirmed on Wednesday (1/4/2026) that the newly issued one-day weekly Work From Home (WFH) policy serves as a recommendation rather than a mandate for private companies.
"The policy is an appeal because we must ensure that remote work arrangements do not negatively impact national economic growth," he said during a press conference in Jakarta, as cited by antaranews.com
A ministerial circular encourages private firms, state owned enterprises (BUMN), and regional enterprises to adopt flexible schedules to optimize energy consumption at the workplace. However, the Minister emphasized that implementation remains at the discretion of each employer to suit specific operational needs and maintain productivity.
While the policy took effect on Wednesday, essential sectors including healthcare, energy, logistics, and retail are officially exempt. The Ministry further reminded employers that workers' rights, such as full salary and annual leave, must remain protected regardless of their working location.
