Lampung Regional Police Chief Inspector General Helmy Santika has been recognized by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries and the Indonesian Police Strategic Studies Institute (Lemkapi) for uncovering a smuggling operation involving lobsters seeds (BBL) worth Rp 37.3 billion (approximately $2.4 million).
"This award reflects the collective efforts of our team. I dedicate this honor to the Water and Air Police Unit, whose professionalism and commitment made this success possible," he said during the 74th Water and Air Corps anniversary celebration on Tuesday (3/12/2024).
The smuggling bust occurred on 10 October 2024, in Seputih Agung, Central Lampung, where authorities seized 149,400 baby lobsters.
Chief Helmy encouraged his officers to continue protecting Lampung’s maritime assets, praising twenty-one Water and Air Police officers for their contributions.
"This recognition motivates us to work even harder in securing our region, both on land and at sea," he added, as quoted by antaranews.com.
