Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Law and Human Rights Supratman Andi Agtas denied allegations of presidential interference in judicial affairs following a gathering of over 150 judges and legal ministers at the Presidential Palace on 20 February 2025.
“There was absolutely no mention of interference—none at all,” he said on Sunday (23/2/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
Minister Supratman, who attended the meeting, emphasized that President Prabowo Subianto merely urged judges to uphold justice and protect the vulnerable. He highlighted the president's call for judicial independence, adding that the Supreme Court must remain autonomous to fulfill public expectations of justice.
The meeting included Supreme Court judges and senior legal officials, following the court’s 2024 annual report session.
Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Corrections, Yusril Ihza Mahendra, confirmed the president’s request for the judiciary’s integrity and proper law enforcement.
