Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. A magnitude 5.1 earthquake struck near Melonguane in the Talaud Islands, North Sulawesi, early Wednesday (15/10/2025) at around 3..26 am local time, according to the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).
The agency confirmed that the tremor posed no tsunami threat, as reported by antaranews.com.
BMKG reported the quake’s epicenter at 7.36°N, 127.17°E, approximately 337 kilometers northeast of Melonguane, at a shallow depth of 10 kilometers.
In its official statement, BMKG emphasized that the released data prioritizes speed and may be updated as further analyses are completed. “This information prioritizes timeliness, and the data may change as more information becomes available,” the agency noted.
No immediate reports of casualties or damage have been received, and BMKG has not yet provided details on the quake’s cause. The agency urged residents to remain calm and to rely only on official updates to avoid misinformation.
