Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. The Coordinator of Indonesia Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) Boyamin Saiman commends the fast reaction of Metro Jaya Regional Police in handling the extortion allegation towards the former Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo by Firli Bahuri. “I appreciate the investigators of Metro Jaya Regional Police who has finally completed the case documents and has been sent it to the public prosecutor at the DKI Jakarta Prosecutor's Office," said Boyamin, Sunday (17/12/23). Moreover, he adds that the investigators have been giving their best to complete the documents in accordance to the constitutions of Article 25 of the Corruption Eradication Law. The law clearly states that corruption cases must be handled more quickly than other criminal cases. In addition, most of the grafters are jailed during the investigation process to ease investigators examine the suspect. The necessity of this policies becoming more apparent as Firli often absent from the summoning, halting the investigation process. Moreover, Boyamin considers with Firli not being arrested by the institution would affect Metro Jaya Regional Police and Indonesian National Police negatively. “However, there are somethings that needs to be fix, while their quick respond must be appreciated, their initiative of not apprehending Firli is regrettable,” says Boyamin. The Coordinator of MAKI conveys that the case of Firli has attracted public attention. Many of them have voiced their concerns or critique towards the case or to Firli as a person who was a former high official of Indonesian National Police. “Because however it is, Firli is the three-star general who got all the privilege of not being arrested when he has been determined as the prime suspect,” says Boyamin in conclusion.
