Inp.polri.go.id – South Konawe. National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) of Kendari search a woman who was ambushed by a crocodile at Laeya River, South Konawe in Southeast Sulawesi.
“The woman is Marni (30), who is a local of Ambesea Village, South Konawe,” says Kendari Basarnas Chief, Muhammad Arafah quoted from Antaranews on Sunday (12/17/2023).
Arafah says that his party first got the report from the Village Chief of Ambesea, Edi, who told that there was a woman who got pounced by a crocodile.
Afterwards, Arafah then deployed his team to search the area with inflatable boat at 18:25 pm.
“We have to trek around 49 kilometers to go to the location,” says Arafah. He adds that the rescue team has to go through the rain in search of the woman at the river.
Arafah told that the incident began when the lady was sitting around the Ambessea River at 15:00 pm. Not noticing there was a crocodile approaching, the lady was then ambushed by the predator and was dragged to the depths of the river.
“The search has been initially carried out by her family and locals, however the victim is still not yet found,” says Arafah.
In his closing statement, he implores the public to be careful with the potential dangers near the waters or lands, particularly in the area where the predators are roaming around.
