inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Dadan Hindayana said that the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program during the month of Ramadan is still running, by changing the mechanism so that food can be taken home by students.
"We are still doing the program, but with a different mechanism from the usual days where the provided free nutritious food can be taken home," said the Head of BGN on Monday (2/24/2025).
He said that for students who are fasting, the food can be consumed for breaking the fast, while those who are not fasting can eat it at school secretly or at home.
The Dadan explained that the food provided will be designed to last a long time and not go stale easily. Some examples include milk, boiled eggs, dates, fortified cookies, fruit, and occasionally green bean porridge or kolak, while still paying attention to the nutritional composition.
"What is clear is that the source of the nutritional composition remains, where there is protein, carbohydrates, and fiber," said Dadan.
Regarding the packaging, BGN has innovated. Last year, this program used paper bags, but this year it has been tested in Sukabumi, West Java, using bags that can be taken home by students.
The bags, he said, must be returned the next day to be exchanged for new bags containing food. He considered this mechanism not only reduces waste but also trains student discipline.
"That will be the new mechanism for Ramadan. So we will continue to run the program," said the Head of BGN.
The MBG program will run until Eid al-Fitr. The Head of BGN emphasized that this mechanism applies to all students, including non-Muslims.
