Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police have uncovered and dismantled an illegal drug laboratory producing etomidate at an apartment complex in Pluit, North Jakarta, following intelligence from airport customs authorities.
The raid was carried out by the Narcotics Directorate on Friday at Greenbay Apartment.
“Two suspects were arrested, including one Chinese citizen and one Indonesian citizen,” said Superintendent Parikhesit, the Head of Sub-Directorate II of Metro Jaya Police Narcotics Unit, on Tuesday (13/1/2026).
The case began after Customs at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport flagged a suspicious international shipment containing chemicals and laboratory equipment. The package was traced to the apartment lobby, leading police to the clandestine laboratory.
Investigators seized etomidate, chemical substances, and complete lab equipment.
Chief Parikhesit said the Chinese citizen acted as the main chemist, while the equipment was shipped from India, as reported by antaranews.com.
Authorities estimate the lab could have produced up to 30 liters of liquid etomidate before being shut down. The suspects are now detained for further investigation.
