Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The grandeur of Indonesia’s 80th Independence Day celebration at Merdeka Palace on Sunday carried an extra layer of pride as dozens of female officers, known locally as Polwan, from Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police () marched forward to raise the red-and-white flag.
Leading the formation, Second Inspector Erni Junita Sinaga described the honor as unforgettable. From the first step onto the Palace grounds to the moment the flag was raised high, she said, every movement was performed with pride and wholehearted dedication.
“This is not just duty, it is our love for Indonesia,” she said in a statement on Sunday (18/8/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com..
The sight of disciplined female officers standing tall before the nation symbolized the strength of Polwan within the Indonesian National Police (INP).
Behind the scenes, Superintendent Chuswandari P, the Metro Jaya Police Human Resources Unit Head of Personnel Maintenance, coordinated the unit, supported by a team of officers and young brigadiers who handled escort duties, health services, transport, and training.
The group had undergone intensive drills since mid-July, rehearsing at multiple venues across Jakarta, from the Presisi Stadium of the Traffic Directorate to Bhayangkara Field and Wiladatika Cibubur. Each practice session prepared them for the flawless performance witnessed on 17 August 2025.
For the Polwan, participation in the flag-raising troop was more than a ceremonial task. It was a moment to stand before the nation, disciplined and united, representing the role of women officers in one of Indonesia’s most sacred traditions.
