Metro Jaya Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Karyoto implores the public to maintain unity ahead of the 2024 General Election. “As the election is ahead of us, I ask you to be more compassionate and understanding with each other,” says the police chief in Jakarta on Monday (1/15/2024). Karyoto continues that he welcomes the people in campaigning the programs of their candidates. However, he reminds the masses that election campaigns are not free from the hands of law. “If you want to convince others to support your candidates, please, you’re welcome to do it; however , we implore you to do it in accordance with the law. You can hold discussions with others as we are strictly against any kinds of intimidation,” says the police chief. Moreover, the police chief also advised people to be more wise and smart in using social media and not spread any hoax or misinformation. He continues by saying that the election must be held with full of joy and knit the state of unity stronger instead of breaking it. (ad/ay/pr/nm)
